Granny’s cabbage soup

  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 1 large Quebec green cabbage
  • 4 onions
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 green peppers
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 3 litres (12 cups) chicken stock, homemade or ready-made
  • A few drops soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Cut bacon into strips. In a large pot, brown bacon over high heat until golden.
  2. Dice vegetables and add to pot with bacon. Brown for just a few minutes. Add chicken stock and soy sauce. Season with salt and pepper and let cook for 1 hr.
